DejaView Announces Gargoyle Toys
DejaView has released a wearable computer with one purpose, to capture video. The camera itself starts at $80, but to get the full working model one needs to get their CamWear 100, which costs $300 $400 and can record 250 thirty second video clips. The DejaView wearable passively records, and when you request a clip, it's of the previous thirty seconds, not the thirty seconds after you hit the button. Their more expensive model, the CamWear 200XP costs $500 and can record four hours of video.
Update (June 12th, 2004):
They just announced that they've found someone to produce their product, sans expensive model.

But what if the 'interesting- started 45 seconds ago? I'd want to be able to key in an N-multiplier for the 30 sec blocks....
Posted by: Dav at July 10, 2003 06:51 PMI think even Mann's ENGwear (Electronic News Gathering) systems can't do much more than a < one min into the past, and that's on a Pentium with fast large hard drives. It's really a matter of your reaction time, which is part of the idea of starting recording when your pulse rises or you break out in a sweat. Start when the autonomic nervous systems engage, so you don't even need to decide. After all, you can always delete it later.
