That's really the core idea behind a Singularity- a barrier to prediction. Myself, I'm quite the believer in singularities, but not in The Singularity- little-s singularities crop up throughout history, identifiable moments when everything changed, and that to an individual outside of the singularity, would have been completely unpredictable.
